This arrangement is based on Percy Aldridge Grainger's 1911 setting for solo piano, though many flute players will also be familiar with his version for concert band. This version for 4 C flutes preserves some of the wonderful dissonance that's a hallmark of Grainger's work, but the beautiful and poignant melody still soars.
