I. Ouverture
|II. Menuet
III. Gavotte
IV. Pastorale
Composed in 1919 for a theatrical entertainment commissioned by Prince Albert I of Monaco, Masques et Bergamasques is one of Gabriel Fauré's last orchestral works. The title evokes the playful, masked figures of the commedia dell'arte and the rustic bergamasque dance, blending elegance with a hint of nostalgia. The suite combines new material with reworked earlier pieces, embracing a neoclassical style while retaining Fauré's signature lyricism. This flute choir arrangement is suitable for intermediate to advanced flutists.
