Chopin’s Variations on a Theme by Rossini is a set of variations for flute and piano based on the final aria “Non più mesta” from Gioacchino Rossini’s opera La Cenerentola. In this flute duet arrangement, the first flute plays the original solo part and the second flute plays an adaptation of the piano accompaniment. Additional material from the finale of Rossini’s opera has been added to create an introduction and coda for a more virtuosic duet performance.
